About us
CENTEX was founded in 1967 by 200 wool growers from 2 local cooperatives with the aim to reach overseas markets directly. At present CENTEX gathers around 1500 farmers within 36 cooperatives around the country.
Due to its cooperative nature, Centex can downstream information from the market to the farmer and by doing this it has achieved improvements related to sheep breeds, sheep management and sheep handling, and technical assistance. This together with a high level of industrial production enables Centex to produce tops of the highest quality which led to its present position as one of the main Uruguayan wool tops exporting companies, and a well known brand in more than 25 markets around the world.
Mission
To carry on the coordination of the agricultural production chain, promoting the integration of the grower into competitive agro-industrial pipelines, supplying global solutions (commercial, financial, technological and of information), in order to enhance the socioeconomic situation of the farmers within the cooperative system.
